ALTERNATIVE ARTS presents East London’s major fashion event – Alternative Fashion Week.  Spitalfields will play host to the most original and creative collections by a fresh crop of new designers with truly innovative ideas. Located at Spitalfields Traders Market, Crispin Place, Brushfield St, London E1 6AA, the 6 day event is Free to attend and will be open to Press and Public daily at 1.15pm accompanied by ‘The Mannequins’ – a live contemporary Jazz band.

ALTERNATIVE FASHION WEEK is where all the best new designers are to be discovered. “AFW  provides a genuine alternative for them to present their work directly to the press, public and the fashion industry.”

OVER EIGHTY DESIGNERS have been selected to show their work. Hundreds of applications were received from independent designers aiming to establish their labels.

Klue will be showing a 12 piece swimwear collection extended from the recently launched SS12 “Dance with a stranger”  collection.

After a few weeks planning the concept the team met at Klue HQ early one December morning. This collection has strong dominant theme with clean lines and monochrome colour pallet “behind open doors” plays with the idea of fetish wear with elements of restrictive garments, sheer and contrasting fabrics, dramatic shapes and lines that distort the line between outer wear and lingerie.

This shoot is the first in a series of capsule collections showcasing innovative luxury limited designs that will only be available from selected stockists.

Klue had the opportunity to received guidance throughout the week from a panel of four expert mentors; established Leeds designer-to-the-stars James Steward; Apprentice finalist and entrepreneur Claire Young; Meadowhall’s Fashion & Beauty Expert and author of ‘The Modern Girl’s Guide to Fabulousness’ Bethanie Lunn; and Director of Sheffield-based PR firm MK Things Happen, Caroline Woffenden. Aswell as meeting Fashion Rocks Buying Director Matin lacy.
Klue received invaluable advice from all the mentors such as the following from Martin Lacey FR buying director ” I loved this brand – it has a very strong sense of style and the collection is very memorable.” Claire Young Apprentice finalist and entrepreneur “passionate and switched on, very creative”.
On a personal note this was a chance to meet an inspiring designer who i have admired for some time, James Steward offered some words of advice which i will be taking on board to push and further develop the brand.

Klues first pop up boutique was a fantastic success and it was a delight to meet regular and new customers face to face.

I would like to say a big thank you to Meadowhall and the MK things happen team for this amazing opportunity.

Kicking off the run of shows was the Leeds Fashion show ‘Dress me beautiful’ This is the 2nd year i have shown and so much has changed in 1 year . Everyone has worked so hard on this show and it was a fantastic evening in a beautiful venue. Klue’s head models Lauren and Lisa also opened and closed the show along with 4 other stunning models which featured 6 styles from the Flutter-Bye AW11 collection.
Needless to say Klue will be there next year and a massive thank you to all the team for producing the best show in Leeds.

Liverpool Fashion week
Hosted at the hard days night hotel in the heart of Liverpool Klue was selected by Fashion Pony to showcase on the opening night of LFW. An amazing night and a chance to meet some fantastic people, with mentions on various blogs and a brief feature on North West tonight the event was a success and a fantastic introduction of klue in Liverpool.

Midlands Fashion Designer Awards (MFDA) 2011

Featured in the emerging designer category showing another selection from the ‘Flutter-Bye’ collection.
The show was set in the Stunning Fazeley studios in Birmingham city centre.

Arriving at the Savoy which has just under gone a 220 million restoration it was simply sunning. Greeted by a red carpet lined with photographers, journalists then handed a glass of wine set the tone of the celebrity attended grand J summer Fashion show.
Hosted in the Lancaster Ball room, where the Hollywood fairy tale Notting hill was filmed, the show featured in press in over 10 different countries.
